Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream Review

hello hello c:
It's been a while! I've been in HK for a little over a month now and it's literally been a month of non-stop walking, shopping and eating, which sounds amazing but my wallet is not feeling so amazing ;c i think I'm quite ready to come home and when i do, i can finally get around to swatching all my purchases!
Today i have for you a review of my favorite moisturizer!

I've been using this moisturizer for about a year now. Since discovering it, i have gone through 3 (50ml) tubs of it, this is my 4th. My skin loves this stuff and i like to keep my skin happy c;
It has made such a dramatic difference to my skin. The few years prior to using this moisturizer, my skin was at its worst, i was constantly breaking out and getting little bumps that weren't pimples.
I have combination skin and i thought using oil free products would help. Instead, many products i switched to did the exact opposite and stripped my skin dry of all its natural oils, further breaking me out. That's why when the SA at Kiehl's suggested i try this product i was really hesitant, but she was really lovely and she gave me a sample to take home first instead of pressuring me to just buy it. After finishing the sample, i practically ran to the counter to buy the jar.
This time on my trip to HK, i decided not to carry my jar over from Melbourne and instead just buy a new tub and the horror when it was completely sold out across HK. For 2 weeks i had to switch to another moisturizer and i could really see the difference without this moisturizer ;c

Because this is a gel cream, it's more on the watery side. The gooey texture allows it to be absorbed easily. I love the fresh, cooling sensation as you apply it. It can be a little sticky going on (especially if you use too much) but once it absorbs like there's nothing there, completely weightless and dry to touch. It keeps my face hydrated yet oil-free during the day - moisture without the shine. This is also a great base for my foundation.
This product is targeted for normal to oily skin so if you have sensitive skin, this is probably not the product for you.
This is honestly the best moisturizer i've ever used, I love how light it feels on my skin. A little goes a long way, one 50ml tub usually lasts me about 3 months. I am really happy to say that since understanding my skin a bit more and using more appropriate products, my skin hasn't been this good in so long and this gel cream played a big role in that!
This time was the first time i've seen the jumbo size jar (125ml), so i purchased that. I was given a sample of the cleaner from this range too which i liked, i think i'll pick one up when i finish my current cleanser c:
Less than a week until i come home, I'm sorry for the lack of updates. I can promise you now, i have lots installed for you once i get back c;

In Australia, the 50ml Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream retails for $34 and is available at selected Myers and David Jones.

Have you tried this product before? If not, what's your go-to moisturizer?

  1. Okay you've convinced me to try this out! I haven't tried Kiehl's before but I've been eyeing their eye creams (HAHAHA i'm so punny.... no? ok) for a while now so I might just go on a Kiehl's spree! Sounds like exactly what I need!

    1. i've only ever purchased 2 Kiehl's products (this and the rare earth deep pore cleansing masque); both of which have become staples in my skincare routine. my review for the masque is in queue c;
      i really hope you like this if you do decide to buy it!
