My Travel Make Up Bag

I thought i'd just share with you the make up products I ended up bringing with me. I'm actually so impressed with myself that this was all i brought. I wanted to bring more, sure, but i knew i had to be selective because it's not like i'm not going to buy more make up here :3

For my foundation, i chose my Chanel VitaLumière Aqua (my go-to summer foundation). This was without question really...I LOVE VitaLumière Aqua. Because it's a water based foundation; it's super lightweight and really comfortable to wear even in the humidity here. I love that it provides decent coverage but still looks so natural - like your skin but better! Plus there's SPF ^^
For my concealers, i took my MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer. I've never reviewed this on the blog so here's a quick round up. I originally bought it because i liked that it had a thin consistency and still managed to cover - which is pretty much what you want in an undereye concealer. However, i find that this does settle into fine lines and crease after a few hours and starts to look cakey ;c i just brought this with me to finish so i can chuck it out and get a new one! Then I took my Bourjois concealer stick for blemishes and Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder - forgot to include this in the photo LOL (both of which i briefly reviewed here).
I actually cannot believe i actually convinced myself to part ways with my Naked palette LOL, but there were just too many shimmery shades that i wasn't really feeling that for summer.
I brought my Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette (review + swatches here), my MAC Satin Taupe and Naked Lunch eyeshadows (full review/swatches here for both of these) and the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows from the Sexiest Nudes Ever palette (review + swatches here).
The reason i chose these above all the other colors/palettes is because these colors all work really well together or on their own. The Bobbi Brown palette also has a couple matte shades if i want.

For eye products, I packed things I use on a regular basis - my Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner (I usually switch between this or the Dolly Wink one),  Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in Nude, Etude House Eye Primer, Lioele Auto-Eyebrow Pencil in 3, Maxfactor Masterpiece Mascara (I switch mascaras after every time i finish one, this is just the one i'm using now), and my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I also brought my Two Faced Starry Eyed Eyeliner in Mad Mad Love, i like using this when i need some extra sparkle in my day :3
For blush, I brought my favorite summer blush, NARS Gilda. It looks quite intimidating in the pan but it gives the perfect warm coral flush of color. I also brought the L'Oreal BB Blush for days when i just want to look like i have a natural rosy cheeks.

Oh my did i have trouble deciding the lip products i wanted to take with me LOL. I ended up bringing my: MAC Cremesheen Glass in Private Screening (review and swatch here), NARS Casablanca Lipstick, Dior Addict Extreme in Cherie Bow, Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 106 (review and swatch here) and lastly Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter in 02.

NARS Casablanca, Dior Cherie Bow and Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter in 02
I don't think this swatch does Casablanca much justice, it was very hard to capture. It's a softened orange that's really wearable. I find that a lot of orange lip colors are quite vibrant and can make my teeth look yellow but not this! Sometimes I dab it lightly on my lips and it looks really cute :3 Cherie Bow is just an easy and flattering pop of pink. I really love the Lip Perfecter; it's like the perfect nudey/milky pink.
I don't really like doing brush reviews so i'll just show you and sum up what i use them for but these are basically the brushes I cannot live without. I got the roll up brush holder from Muji a year ago. Most of the brushes fit and those that don't i just roll it in the holder anyway. I keep my powder brush in my make up bag though because it's huge.
All my favorite face brushes are from Real Techniques:
Contour Brush - I use this for concealer under my eyes and around my nose
Expert Face Brush - I actually don't use this on a day to day basis but i plan to get the Chanel Tan de Soleil cream bronzer and this seems like the perfect brush for it so i brought it with me
Buffing Brush - this is my go to brush for liquid foundations when i don't need much coverage.
Blush Brush + Powder Brush - Blush + Powder

Eye brushes:
RT Brow Brush - I use this to trace eyeshadow on my lower lash line
RT Base Shadow Brush - All round great brush for patting color on and blending. It fits perfectly in my crease.
RT Deluxe Crease Brush - I usually use this with my cream eyeshadows. Because its quite wide, it covers my eyelid area really well and makes blending really easy.
MAC 239 - I use this to pat color all over my lid or more specifically, darker colors in the crease. Because the tip is a lot shorter than the blending brushes, it allows precision.
MAC 217 - Fluffy blending brush
MAC 224 - This is great for all over the lid blending. I like to use this with single eyeshadows that can be used as an all over the eyelid shade.
Smudge Brush - I think i bought this from Sasa like 2 years ago and its seriously the best smudge brush ever. The bristles in this brush are dense and short so its perfect for smudging on the lower lash line, especially for smokey eyes. I find pencil brushes too soft for this purpose.

Now i need your help!
These are all the concealers i've heard good things about including Benefit, Collections 2000, Clinique, Origins, NARS, Bourjois, MUFE, Bobbi Brown, Bare Minerals, and more.

Have you tried any of these/Do you have any other suggestions?
How do you go by packing your travel make up bag?

  1. You're so lucky to be in Hong Kong right now!!
What you packed is actually quite decent! I generally pack really lightly when I go overseas because I know that I will end up buying a heap of products there. I also like to bring products that are close to finishing as well and usually replace them whilst overseas. Especially if I'm going to HK because well, it's HK... I can't not buy a lot while I'm there :p

  2. Girl, you've got great taste in products. I looked for the Proof 10 primer when I went back to Singapore last month and it was out of stock :( is it as good as they say? I have the Clarins gloss in 01 Rose and it's so nice and plush! You didn't buy the MAC here in Aus did you? I imagine it would have cost double that of buying it overseas...
Out of your concealer montage I've tried the Bourjois and it's nice but it's only medium coverage- if the scar is really hyperpigmented I add another layer on. I'm planning on getting the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer- it sounds like everything you want in a concealer! Have fun in HK!

    1. Awh thanks c: This eye primer does everything an eye primer should and i think i like it better than the Urban Decay one, it just holds up slightly longer in my opinion!
Haha, NO WAY do i buy my MAC from Aus, it's far too expensive. I usually buy it from HK when i come back. Although i did splurge on RiRi Woo because i really wanted it :3
I plan to use the concealer for mainly under the eye area, so i'll keep that in mind c:

  3. you went very minimal with products then went crazy with brushes! LOL!

I'm currently using the Benefit Fake Up. I'm still a bit on the fence with it. It is the perfect colour for me though (medium) but I find it creases a little!

    1. LOL yeh... it's because i don't plan on buying any brushes and i'm pretty content with my brush collection atm so i just brought everything i needed so i don't find an excuse to buy more!
Thank you so much for your two cents! It's so hard finding an undereye concealer ;c

  4. Still dying over the Bobbi Brown palette!!!
So excited that you're getting the Chanel Tan de Soleil - been considering that for a while too.
I have the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer but I don't really use it much because I got it in a shade too light for me. It can look a bit cakey under my eyes so I don't really use it for brightening either =/ not sure what to do with it actually haha not many people are more pale than me that I can pass it on to!

  5. Oh I want to go to HK as well!! have fun there! :D
so proud you managed to limit the make up you bring to HK, if it was me, it would be double the amount. lol
I have tried the benefit fake up concealer and I love it! But if you need much coverage, it wont do the job because it is quite sheer, but the finish is brightening and pretty! if you want more coverage, maybe you can try Maybelline fit me concealer, it is very good as well and affordable :D

  9. Wow, great selection! You're all covered for makeup essentials! I didn't know L'Oreal made a blush under their Magique line - pretty cool!!!

As for concealers, I heard the Collection 2000 one is amazing! We actually have Collection in Hong Kong (select Watsons), but they have this other twist up concealer. You should check out their products! They're super affordable, something like under HK$50? xx

  10. Lovely travel bag! Thanks for sharing! I love seeing what people bring around! I really need/want a brush roll and more face brushes this year! Maybe more RT if I can get my hands on them. I'm not a huge concealer person so I'm sorry I don't have recommendations!

  11. What a lovely blog you have Chole ^^ New follower here : )
As for the concealer question, I've used Benefit Boing and it's really good but way to expensive for my budget, now I've been using NYX concealer in a jar and it's almost as good and it only costs around USD 4!!!

  13. Amazing picks babe! All the lip products you have included looks so pretty! Especially the Clarins lip perfector. I've also been looking into purchasing a new concealer and so far have come down to two choices - either the Bobbi Brown corrector or the NARS creamy concealer. Hope you find a good one to match your preferences! x
