Ain't Misbehavin'

dress: H&M, hairband: HK, all jewelry: mum's vintage jewelry, gloves: eBay, stockings: House of Holland, heels: YSL
It was one of my best friend's birthday last wednesday and she wanted to have a girly night-in on that weekend to celebrate it. It wasn't until a few days before that she decided she wanted us to dress up and for it to be 20s themed. Luckily enough, i actually already had everything!
I've had this dress for a couple of years now but i've never worn it; it was perfect for the occasion. My mum was kind enough to lend me her jewelry for the night, she is an enthusiastic collector of vintage jewelry so she had all the right items to complete my outfit.
And why did i happen to have gloves? My girlfriends and i are hoping to go to a halloween event this year and lets just say, if everything goes according to plan, my costume involves gloves c; I wish Halloween was bigger in Australia! It's not really a huge thing here, i know it's much more embraced in the States.
Obviously the make up was a huge part of my costume, here's a FOTD:
Face:
Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse in Beige
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat in 8
Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Katie

Eyes:
Lioele Auto Eyebrow in 3
UD Naked Palette - Virgin (inner corner of eyes + browbone)
UDPP
Sleek Oh So Special Palette - Wrapped Up (blended all over eyelid and along the outer lower lash line)
Dolly Wink Liquid Liner in Black
UD Eyelash Primer Potion
Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black

Lips:
MAC Lip Pencil in Beet
Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 09

The make up in the 20s was characterised by thin, round and downward eyebrows; dark and smokey eyeshadow + eyeliner and cupid's bow deep red/raspberry lips.
My look was inspired by it but i didn't follow all of it. I rarely wear super dark eyeshadows and wasn't sure i even owned any, but luckily i had the perfect color in my Sleek palette and i quite liked the result! I might wear it more often for nights out c:
I tried making my eyebrows less arched and i went for my Rimmel lipstick as opposed to my usual Russian Red because this color was more plummy.
I actually really love the Kate Moss lipsticks from Rimmel. I have 4 and i just love the feel of them. There's also a nostalgic scent to them, i'm not sure what it is. I might have to do a review on them.
Anyway, not bad for a last minute costume, i was pretty proud!

Do you have any plans for Halloween? If you do, what do you plan to dress up as? c:

  5. Super cute look! I love it a lot, and it's too bad there isn't as much Halloween in Australia. In the US it's so big that most of us plan to go to at least one party but sometimes more. Last year I had two costumes!

This year my plan is to do Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games. I enjoy her over-the-top look from the movies.

    1. that's so exciting! yeh it's really not that celebrated at all ;c some bars/clubs do halloween events but that's about it! it's also because here in Australia, it's right before final exams for the end of the school yr (uni and high school).
What a great idea! lots of room to play with your make up there! c:
